God and politics, what a touchy subject. Some say God is not political, that God is neither democrat nor republican. That God doesn’t care whether a person is liberal or conservative. Well, I would differ with the latter assessment. It has been long established that in this country, (the United States of America,) if a person’s leanings were to the left they were considered a liberal (progressive) or democrat. It was also considered that if a person’s leanings were to the right they were considered a conservative or republican. This cannot be argued. Then there are so called moderates that to them they neither lean to the left or to the right. They will tell you they are fiscally conservative but socially liberal or vice versa. To be honest with you I have never met one. All the so called moderates I met are really liberals who do not want admit the fact that they are liberals. I am conservative and not ashamed to tell anyone that I am. My heart leans to the right. So, what is the difference? I am not going to get into the details of the difference. That is for another day, but the following is the difference in my opinion. Liberals or progressives (to embarrassed to call themselves liberals so they soften the term to mean the same thing), believe that government needs to be more involved in its citizens personal lives. That a person cannot work themselves out of a difficult situation without the intervention of the government. Most liberals have no regard or time for God. Most are atheists, who have no belief of God. Conservatives believe that the government should get out of the way of free enterprise and people themselves will work themselves out of financial or personal instability by hard work and determination. Socially, liberals believe in whatever feels good without the regard to consequences. “It’s my body or it’s my life and nobody can tell me what I can and cannot do with either one”. Fair enough but as a conservative, my social guideline is the bible. God’s word is perfect and what He says about social issues is clear. The political group that leans more to Gods word are the conservative republicans. So let’s get back to the original subject of God and politics. This is very important subject now since most of you in the US will be casting a midterm election ballot in November. God may not be a democrat or republican but He surely leans to the right. Ecclesiastes 10:2 states “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left”. This Old Testament passage in my opinion is not a coincidence. Scripture says God is the same yesterday, today, and forever so He knew what He was talking about when He said the fool’s hearts leans to the left. Another example is Matthew 25:32-46 “All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world………………………………..Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels…….Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” God never wants to be put second. You may be a person who preaches the word, is seen with a bible, or lifts his/her hand in song, but if you step in that voting booth and select a candidate that is left leaning you will hear God say to you Matthew 7:23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” Is this what you want to hear from God the Father? You may say “My parents voted democrat and their parents before them voted the same way so I must follow in their footsteps. Or you may vote for a candidate because of race. I have to vote for a Hispanic or African-American candidate because that is what I am. Someone I can relate to. God cares less of your skin color. He cares about your heart and if you vote for a candidate whose actions are left leaning and you do this because of skin color then you are putting God second. To be honest, I am Hispanic and I would never vote for any particular race because I am Hispanic. I vote for a candidate who honors God and his word. Just remember, regardless of popular belief, Heaven will not be that crowded. Matthew 7:14 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. It’s tough living in this secular world but think of the reward when you stand up for God. When you go into that voting booth what direction are you going to cast that ballot? Will you cast to the left or to the right? Remember once you have given yourself over to Jesus you are Now Of The Way (Acts 9:2) , a Citizen Of Heaven (Philippians 3:20).
God Bless
